Stage 18 was the exclamation point on one of the most exciting Tour de France’s this century. Jonas Vingegaard all but extinguished Tadej Pogacar’s hopes of victory in Paris. And so we head into the penultimate stage, the final TT, and then onto Paris. Mathieu van der Poel secured an impressive solo victory at Paris-Roubaix, adding to his earlier 2023 Milan San Remo triumph. After a series of attacks and a key collision at Carrefour de l'Arbre, van der Poel capitalized on rival Wout van Aert's puncture to gain an advantage and ultimately win the race. Tour de France Stage 16 with 2022 TDU winner Jimmy Whelan

We are deep into the final week of the 2022 Tour de France, and we are well and truly on our way to the Pyrenees. Stage 16 saw Canadian stallwart Hugo Houle win in an emotional victory, with little change in the General Classification. So, we took the opportunity to spend almost the full episode with Jimmy Whelan, former EF Racing member and winner of the 2022 Santos Festival of Cycling and second place at 2022 Australian Road Nationals. Jimmy had a nightmare 2021, in a story that would test the most devoted of athletes. From crashes to broken promises, and everything in between. Jimmy hasn’t given up, nor has anyone that knows him. His story is one that needs to be heard, and we are proud to tell it.

The first stage of the tour returns to the motherland and already it's all off to a flying start - or so it looked with the man in yellow flapping his wings over the finish line. The 171.5km coastal action between Dunkerque and Calais of Stage 4 sent a bolt of excitement through our hosts Mike, Lee and Matilda for what's to come on this tour. ‘Champagne cycling,’ as Lee called it-looking like he’d had a few himself. The team calls up veteran tour photographer Beardy McBeard to talk through the majesty of chasing the action each day, the logistics of racing around the course ahead of the peloton and one of his worst days on the tour. For all the aspiring photographers out there or anyone who’s ever wondered what the rivalry of the media scrum is like, this is the juicy episode for you. TDF Prologue and Stage 2 with Gabriel Gaté

We’re well and truly rolling now at ‘The Domestiques’. After the Prologue in Copenhagen, Stage 2 of the Tour de France remained in Denmark from Roskilde to Nybord. A flat 200k for the sprinters. Mike, Lee and Matilda unpack the days racing, as Fabio Jakobsen took the honours, and the hearts, of our crew following his life-threatening crash two years ago. Second on the line was Wout van Aert, who took the yellow jersey for the first time in his career. ‘The Domestiques’ also welcomed Gabriel Gaté to the show. For our International listeners, Gabriel has been a feature on Tour de France broadcasts in Australia for decades. Gabriel teaches us how to say our name ‘The Domestiques’ correctly, and becomes our 3rd host as Lee ‘Hollywood’ Turner stays true to reputation and drops off midway through recording, most likely to continue his Mykonos bender.
