Before I became a mother, I had no idea how much birth would change me—or how much this first experience would shape the way I would eventually see birth.

In this episode, I take you back to who I was before motherhood and then into the story of my first birth: 53 hours of labor in Finland.

Living abroad meant navigating pregnancy and birth in a culture that was not my own. Sharing my experience on what it was like to receive maternity care in two very different countries.

From receiving care in Turkey, and what it felt like. To giving birth in a Finnish hospital where communication was sometimes difficult because the staff did not speak much English.

This was my first birth, my first experience navigating the hospital system, and the beginning of a much bigger journey with birth.

Before we begin sharing the stories of physiological birth, I wanted to lay the foundation for Birthright,where this podcast came from, what I believe about birth, and why I felt called to this work.

In this first episode, I share how my faith led me toward birthwork and the deeper meaning I’ve found in supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. We talk about what it truly means to have a village, why community and support matter so much, and what I mean when I use the term physiological birth.

I also share the story behind the name Birthright and why I believe every woman deserves the opportunity to approach birth feeling informed, supported, respected, and connected to her own experience.
