The film referenced in the book and in this podcast is To Wong Fu: Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar released in 1995 about three drag queens on a cross country road trip, it has interesting parallels with the plot of Drag Teen, and the main character sites the movie as instrumental in his journey.
