In this episode of Just Us Sisters, we turn the microphones over to some of our grandsons—the college students and young men who are growing up before our eyes.

We talk about what it’s really like to be on their own, from the freedom and independence they were excited about to the things that surprised them most once Mom and Dad weren’t around to handle the little things. How are they balancing school, work, friendships, relationships, and trying to figure out what comes next? And, of course, we have to hear about the craziest roommate stories!

But this conversation goes much deeper than college life. We ask the boys about the lessons they’ve learned, the challenges that have helped shape them, and what they’ve discovered about themselves as they’ve stepped into adulthood.

Then we get sentimental. Their answers remind us that some of the most meaningful things we give our grandchildren aren’t things at all—they’re memories, encouragement, wisdom, unconditional love, faith, and simply being there.

And perhaps our favorite question of all: What do you want your grandmother to know about the man you are becoming?

Their answers give us a glimpse into the men they are growing into—and remind us that while we may still see the little boys we once held, they are becoming thoughtful, independent, capable young men with dreams and plans of their own.

We wrap up the episode exactly as you might expect: with a little grandma bragging! We tell our grandsons what makes us proud, what we admire about each of them, and just how much it means to watch them grow into the men they are becoming.

There may be plenty of laughs, a few stories Grandma probably didn't need to hear, and maybe even a few moments that bring tears to our eyes. Getting older comes with plenty of wisdom, confidence, and perspective—but it also brings a few worries we may not have thought much about when we were younger.

We’re taking on the Top 10 Things People Worry About After 50 and seeing which ones hit close to home for each of us. From losing our mobility and independence to wondering whether our memories will stay sharp, we’re talking about the fears that come with realizing that our bodies and our lives are changing.

We discuss the toll aging can take on the body, the possibility of health problems, staying active and independent, and the uncomfortable reality that we can’t always do the things we once did without thinking about it. But we’re not just talking about what we like to do — we’re exploring why we enjoy these hobbies and what we get out of them. Some give us a creative outlet, some help us learn something new, some get us outdoors, and others give us a much-needed break from the everyday hustle.

We also admit that not every hobby is a winner! We chat about hobbies we thought we would love but discovered just weren’t for us. Because sometimes the fun is in trying something new — even if you ultimately decide, “Yeah…that’s not my thing.” 😂

One of the things we love most about hobbies is how different they can be. They’re the hobbies that make us us! 🎣📚🧁

In this episode of Just Us Sisters, we’re talking all about hobbies — the things we choose to do simply because we enjoy them, the things that challenge us, and the activities that give us a chance to grow, create, connect, or just get away from it all.

We each share some of our favorite hobbies, including fishing, learning Spanish, baking and decorating, and more.

In this heartfelt episode of Just Us Sisters, we share the lessons we learned while celebrating a life well lived and remembering the eternal promises that bring comfort in times of loss.

Our conversation explores the kind of legacy we each hope to leave—not measured by accomplishments, but by faith, love, kindness, and the lives we touch for God's glory. We also discuss how grief is a deeply personal journey, reminding us that there is no "right" way to mourn and that everyone processes loss differently.

One of the greatest takeaways from this experience was the importance of telling people how much they mean to us while they're still here.

With honesty, humor, wisdom, and the unmistakable bond that only sisters can share, they dive deep into how life changes when a new generation enters the family. Three of the sisters are already proud grandmothers, while the fourth listens, laughs, and reflects on what she hopes her own future grandmother journey may someday look like.

From the very beginning of the episode, listeners are welcomed into a warm and familiar atmosphere that feels more like sitting around the kitchen table than listening to a podcast. The sisters share stories, interrupt each other with laughter, finish one another’s sentences, and lovingly tease each other in a way that instantly makes the audience feel like part of the family. Their chemistry shines throughout the conversation as they open up about the joys, surprises, lessons, and emotional moments that come with grandmotherhood.

One of the most entertaining parts of the conversation centers around choosing their “grandma names.” The sisters joke about how selecting a grandmother name suddenly felt like a major life decision.

As the discussion continues, the sisters begin talking about the traditions they are building with their grandchildren and why those traditions matter so much. All thoroughly enjoy taking trips with their families.

One of the most thoughtful sections of the episode focuses on how today’s technology has changed the experience of grandparenting. The sisters compare how different things are now compared to when they were raising their own children. They discuss FaceTime calls, texting grandchildren, Life360 groups, social media updates, a special lamp, digital photo albums, and how technology allows grandparents to stay connected even when families live far apart.

The conversation then shifts into an unexpectedly deep and insightful discussion about karma, life lessons, and how raising children often comes full circle. The sisters laugh about finally understanding things their own parents used to say after watching their children become parents themselves. One sister jokes that watching her adult child deal with a stubborn tween is “a little bit of karma” after all the chaos they caused growing up.

The fourth sister, who is not yet a grandmother, adds a touching perspective as she talks about watching her sisters grow into this new stage of life. She shares how becoming grandmothers has softened them, deepened them, and somehow made them even more themselves. Her observations bring another layer of love and reflection to the conversation.

Throughout the episode, listeners are treated to the signature humor and authenticity that make Just Us Sisters so relatable and comforting.

The sisters joke about being exhausted after babysitting, struggling to understand modern parenting trends, and realizing that grandparents often get to enjoy all the fun parts of parenting without the same pressures they once carried as mothers.

At its core, this episode is about love that stretches across generations. In this deeply personal and heartfelt episode, four sisters come together with their mother for an honest conversation about what it really means to “raise” your parents.

This isn’t a theoretical discussion—it’s a lived experience shaped over decades. Our family has walked through multiple seasons of caregiving, beginning with our mother and father opening their home to both our maternal grandmother and our mother’s mother-in-law later in life. We witnessed firsthand the quiet sacrifices, the emotional complexity, and the deep sense of responsibility that comes with caring for aging parents under one roof.

Now, life has come full circle. Our parents are in a new chapter, living with one of us sisters, and three of us has, at different points, welcomed our own in-laws into our homes until their passing. In this episode, we reflect on how these experiences have shaped us—not just as daughters, but as wives, mothers, and caregivers.

Together, we explore the realities that people don’t often talk about.

The logistical challenges of merging households. The emotional weight of watching independence fade. The strain it can place on marriages, parenting, and personal identity. We talk openly about boundaries—how hard they are to set, and how necessary they become. There are moments of frustration, and exhaustion that we don’t shy away from.

But woven through all of that are the blessings—unexpected, profound, and lasting. Society tells us we should be able to do it all, but is that possible?

We have honest conversations about navigating work life while raising children. We have all been there and provide advice from our own experiences.
