I guess I'm no different.

But I think what sets my perspective on this apart from that of people who are deep into the academic side of Japan or the typical social media influencer is that my experience isn't about chasing clout.

I've never really spoken about my life in Japan, but in this episode, I try to unpack a few of my thoughts around the experience that I have had over 27 of both living in and visiting the country.

I talk about what got me here in the first place and how I learned to live in the country with minimal resources at the time and how that helped me learn more than I ever could any other way.

I use studying to make myself feel smarter because, for so long, I never felt like I amounted to anything.

But study can be a double-edged sword.

Too much and you'll always have your head buried in a book. Not enough, and you might not be able to achieve certain things.
