This is the most SAHDad episode we've ever made. And it's one of my favorites.

This week's guest is my wife Moe. And before you ask — it was her idea.

Moe grew up in Bridgeport, Illinois. Population under two thousand. Sixty three kids in her graduating class. No Walmart. No soccer program. No access to much of anything. But a family reputation that kept her honest, a faith that kept her grounded, and a small community that gave a painfully shy girl room to become someone.

She was the only member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in her high school for a time. We talk about how she almost went to BYU and how a missionary named Rob Robbins changed everything by simply opening his mouth and talking about a small school in Virginia.

We talk about SVU — driving up the hill on a spring break trip, seeing Main Hall, and knowing instantly. Trying out for three sports in one day. Spain are champions. And I have a lot of thoughts — some of them are going to make people mad.

In this episode I'm going full debrief. No guests, no script, just me sitting down a week post-World Cup and saying everything I've been thinking since the final whistle blew.

Infantino needs to go. I'll die on that hill. The integrity of the international game is not safe with him running FIFA and this World Cup gave me more reasons than ever to believe that. Too many coincidences. Too many inconsistencies. Too many moments that just didn't add up.

I also owe someone an apology. I was wrong about Diego Luna. I said before the World Cup that he should have been on the roster. And then I went to his RSL game against Burnley, did the eye test in person, and came away genuinely disappointed. Pochettino was right to leave him home. I don't love how it was handled — but the decision itself? I'm eating crow on that one.

I still stand by Tanner Tessmann. I still stand by Cameron Carter Vickers. And I think Malik Tillman and Weston McKennie need to be untouchable in that midfield for the next four years. But Diego Luna? Pochettino saw something I didn't.

Cort Cox

This one's a conversation I've been looking forward to for a long time. Cort is one of my closest friends and one of the most genuine people I know — and this episode did not disappoint.

We covered a LOT. From the deeply personal — Cort opens up about his decision not to serve a mission, what led to that choice, and how his faith has continued to grow in a way that works for HIM — to the everyday chaos of raising multi-sport kids while trying to keep faith and family at the center of it all.

Cort and his wife Autum have figured out something that I think a lot of families are quietly searching for: how do you honor the Sabbath when your kids have tournaments? How do you let your kids explore every sport they love without burning them out? And how do you stay grounded in your faith when life is pulling you in twelve directions at once?

Their answer? Make Sunday feel different. Rotate who picks dinner. Watch a movie together. Talk in the car on the way to the game. Simple things that add up to something real.

We also talk about Southern Virginia University, getting out of your comfort zone, why multi-sport athletes are almost always better athletes, and how Cort's son went from watching hockey on TV one night to dragging the whole family onto the ice — including Cort, who broke his jaw learning to skate. 🏒

And at the end, Cort drops some of the most straightforward and powerful advice I've heard on this podcast: find what YOU believe, follow it, and the rest will fall into place.

If you've got kids in sports and you're trying to figure out how faith fits into all of it — this one's for you.

🎧 New episodes every week | Faith.
