First, there’s some Disney news to cover. Disney has released new room and vacation package promotions for early 2027, with some significant savings available on select resorts. If you’re thinking about a Disney trip next year, now is the time to start planning.

We also talk about the new tower crane going up for Piston Peak and the incredible overnight transformation that takes the parks from Halloween to Christmas.

Then it’s time for your questions.

This week, the Dads are asking a big question: Is Disney still worth the money in 2026? With rising prices, Lightning Lanes, dining, resort costs, and more ways than ever to spend money in the parks, we’re taking an honest look at what’s actually worth paying for.

We kick things off with the latest Disney news, including the new Magic of Disney Animation area coming to Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World refurbishments and closures, and the construction taking over the parks. We also head west to talk Disneyland, Oogie Boogie Bash, Disney hotel perks, Halloween popcorn buckets, and whether staying on Disney property is really worth the premium.

Of course, we have to talk food. New Disney treats, Hurley Burley at Disney’s BoardWalk, churros, milkshakes, and the new Gordon Ramsay restaurant at Downtown Disney all make their way into the conversation.

Then we get to The Breaking Point.

Are Disney vacations becoming too complicated? Between Lightning Lanes, dining plans, reservations, resort costs, and spending half the day looking at your phone, the Dads debate whether trying to get the most value out of every dollar can actually take away from the magic.

The Disney Personality Test

Welcome, Foolish Mortals, to another episode of the Grim Grinning Dads!

The Dads are back, and this week we’re talking Disney news, new resorts, Imagineering decisions, Disney ride debates, and what might be the most revealing personality test we’ve ever put the Dads through.

First up, Disney Cruise Line has announced new itineraries for Fall 2027 and Spring 2028. The Dads have some thoughts.

Then we take our first real look at Lakeshore Lodge, Disney World’s newest resort coming in July 2027. With 967 rooms and theming inspired by Brother Bear, Bambi, Pocahontas, Encanto, and Fantasia, there’s a LOT to talk about.

And naturally, the Dads make a deal: if we hit 1,000 YouTube subscribers, we’re staying at Lakeshore Lodge. So… you know what you have to do.

We also head over to Piston Peak National Park and talk about an interesting Imagineering decision that could make a huge difference at Magic Kingdom. Disney reportedly shortened some of the structures at Piston Peak to help preserve sightlines throughout the park. We discuss why that matters, how the new land will fit alongside Big Thunder Mountain and Haunted Mansion, and the changes coming to the Haunted Mansion queue.

The Abu Dhabi Disney Episode

Welcome Foolish Mortals to the Grim Grinning Dads. In this episode, the dads are joined by fellow Travel Genie and Disney fan Jacob to tackle one of the biggest “what ifs” in Disney Parks history: Disneyland Abu Dhabi. Disney has officially announced plans to bring a brand-new theme park to the Middle East, but what will it actually look like? The dads put on their Imagineering hats and make their boldest predictions.

The conversation starts with a look at everything Disney has officially revealed so far, including the partnership with Miral, the proposed waterfront location on Yas Island, and Disney’s promise that this will become the most technologically advanced park they’ve ever built. From there, the dads dive into one of the biggest challenges facing the project: the Abu Dhabi climate. With summer temperatures regularly exceeding 110 degrees, they discuss whether Disney can realistically build an outdoor park, if a massive climate-controlled dome could become reality, and how Imagineering might rethink the traditional Disney park layout.

Next, the discussion shifts to park design and infrastructure. Would Disney build an entirely indoor theme park? Could retractable roofs, enclosed lands, water features, or next-generation cooling technology become part of the experience? From the new cannoli milkshake and Buffalo Dill Pickle wings to wagyu hand rolls, chicken souvlaki, poutine, filet mignon, and plenty more, there’s a LOT to eat. Naturally, this leads to the most important question of the episode: can anything dethrone Caleb’s beloved pickle milkshake?We’re also saying goodbye to the Play Disney Parks app, including the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure and some of the interactive experiences that have been part of the parks for years. The Genie Travel Summit Episode

Welcome Foolish Mortals to the Grim Grinning Dads. In this episode, the dads are coming to you LIVE from Walt Disney World, running on Lightning Lanes, snacks, and pure chaos as they attempt to recap multiple days that have all somehow blended into one.

The trip kicks off with an immediate dive into indulgence—Gideon’s cookies, quick service runs, and the realization that when you can’t check into your room, you might as well start eating. From there, the dads spiral into trying to piece together their first full days, quickly discovering they’ve done far too much to keep it all straight.

Things escalate early with a rope drop run through Disney’s Animal Kingdom, knocking out Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition Everest before most guests even enter the park. Meanwhile, another group gets an up-close look at elephants during the Caring for Giants tour, leading to one of the more unexpectedly memorable experiences of the trip.

Back at the resorts, the dads get a behind-the-scenes look at Disney’s deluxe offerings, touring Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa while learning how to better sell the magic. Of course, all that learning quickly leads back to food—specifically the chaos of ordering at Woody’s Lunch Box and the ongoing debate over what actually qualifies as the best quick service meal.

The day continues with stunt shows, villain encounters, and a strong stance on which Disney villains were robbed. From there, the dads head to Sanaa for one of the best meals on property, complete with bread service, drinks, and at least one questionable request for an Uncrustable.

As if that wasn’t enough, the chaos carries into a full park-hopping day featuring Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. With surprise Lightning Lanes in hand, the dads take on TRON, Haunted Mansion, PeopleMover, and a newly upgraded Buzz Lightyear before heading to EPCOT for redemption on Test Track and a full send on Mission: SPACE—which leaves one unfortunate child completely wrecked.

Of course, no EPCOT day would be complete without a stop at Club Cool, where bad decisions are made, lessons are not learned, and Beverly is consumed… more than once. The night wraps with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, where the dads experience one of the best rides on property—paired with the absolute worst possible song at the worst possible time.

Meanwhile, Charlie remains at home, slowly unraveling as he’s bombarded with FaceTime calls, food videos, and live streams of fireworks he cannot attend. His descent into madness becomes a running theme as the dads continue living out the trip he wishes he was on.

The episode wraps with desserts from around the world, fireworks over EPCOT, and one final realization—this trip may be chaotic, exhausting, and completely unhinged… but it’s exactly why they keep coming back.
